Amid the era of COVID-19, the Ontario government has been making adjustments in regulations and policies to deal with the evolving situation plaguing understaffed and underequipped homes across the province 鈥?some of which have experienced outbreaks and deaths as a result.While many advocates and long-term care workers are urging deeper syst stanley quencher emic changes, Gloria Yip, spokesperson for the Ministry of Long-Term Care, said聽the government has been taking a number of steps to mitigate the issues at hand, including聽preventing outsiders from entering and re-entering the homes.聽As well, on April 15, the government issued an emergency order asking long-term care homes to ensure their e stanley quencher mployees are only working in one centre at a time, as many typically have multiple part-time positions at different locations, which can contribute to the spread of the virus.聽 ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW In order to facilitate this, the government is asking long-term care homes to provide their employees with full-time hours during the pandemic and is offering the homes emergency funding stanley becher to help make that possible.In total, $243 million has been dedicated to help centres with staffing and supplies.
